EXCLUSIVE: Interview With Allana Verde

June 2024 · 3 minute read

Fast rising RnB singer Allana Verde (pronounced Verday) has just released her brand new EP ‘Broken Record’. Verde was raised by her mother, and regularly traveled back and forth between the UK and Jersey City in the United States. Her childhood was filled with music, dancing and all things entertaining so it seems natural for her now be a professional singer.

Here we speak exclusively to Allana Verde about her new music, future plans, childhood memories and much, much more.

You grew up in a very musical environment how did that shape your love of music?

It left no room for anything else. I was always in a dance, singing, or acting class, performing or auditioning for something, and I loved it. Being in the performing arts world became a part of who I am.

When did you decide you wanted to pursue music as a career?

Ever since I was a child, just being in that environment and finding myself constantly singing, even late at night when I’d wake up the neighbours, I knew there’d be nothing else I’d have that type of passion for.

Who are your musical icons?

Michael Jackson. My mum always had a poster, records of his music or a video tape of him performing around the house. Destiny’s Child. Again, their music always playing in the house and I’d always sing along. Whitney Houston, TLC, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera… As I got a little older I fell in love with artists like Amy Winehouse, Beyoncé, Emeli Sandé, Adele and Jessie J.

If you could collaborate with anyone who would you choose?

I’d love to collaborate with Drake. I feel he’s such a creative and I’d be excited to hear what music we’d produce.

How excited are you about finally getting your new EP ‘Broken Record’ out there?

The EP is out now and the support has been great! It’s nerve-racking putting something so personal out there, but I’ve worked so hard on it and it’s something I’m really proud of.

What can listeners expect from the record?

I would say each track has something to relate to. The EP itself is a story. There’s also tons of variety in the production,

Do you have any plans to release a full album soon?

I have many songs that I have worked on over the last couple of years that I would love to put out on an album, but right now there’s still so much more to come from the EP and collaborations.

Can fans expect to see you on tour anytime soon?

Hopefully, but there are no plans for that just yet.

What do you hope to achieve over the next ten years?

I would love to have made a name for myself, to be known for being able to reach any audience by being diverse in music, and not only have successful music worldwide, but to also be recognised for my vocal ability.  I want to record in the best studios all around the world.
