Remember Chester the Molester in Hustler magazine?

June 2024 · 5 minute read

I used to see these comics occasionally in my father’s Hustler magazines. Some were worse than others, but by far they were pretty bad. They would frequently depict Chester with an underage girl about to molest her. Who the hell thought this was a good idea? This was pretty over the top even for Hustler, and even with the raunchiest publications, you’d think that even suggesting molesting underage girls would’ve been something they would’ve all stayed away from.

I remember Jimmy Carter’s sister ministering to Larry Flynt—one of her “helpful” suggestions was to reform the cartoon and make him “Chester the Protector.” She really was annoying, though I still like Jimmy.

And when Hugh Hefner was revealed to have preyed on women—yeah, big surprise there.

Hefner looks like such a douchebag at R3, with the pipe and the comb-over.

JFK Jr wasn't bothered by glorifying child molestation. He invited Hustler’s Larry Flynt, who infamously published nude photos of Jackie O. sunbathing, to sit with him at the White House Correspondents’ dinner.

The latter was too much for even Uncle Ted Kennedy — Chappaquiddick, never forget — who wrote his nephew a letter expressing his deep disappointment.

Why was any gay kid looking through Hustler Magazine ? This is why Playgirl was invented - for us !

If I remember correctly Hustler was raunchier and dud occasionally have dicks on display in photo shoots. Penthouse once in a while if I remember correctly. Dad’s porn stash was never off-limits when I was a kid.

Beats the hell outta me.

R6 if I remember, correctly, Hustker occasionally had rather explicit pictorials which included dicks and fucking. Penthouse also showed the occasional dick but my memory nowhere near as explicit

From the article:

[quote] Dwaine Tinsley was a comic artist who’s work may have alluded to troubling real life events.

Oh dear.

I remember in some of the Hustler magazines from the 80's I came across, there were tons of blatantly racist cartoons in them as well.

Why did I look at Hustler? Because I had access to it AND they showed dicks. It was more exciting than the stretched open cunts in Penthouse.

I live in a rural community about three hours east of San Francisco. A lot of Viet nam vets brought their families here from the urban centers when they were decommissioned from the services. At least 50 percent of the children born in the late sixties to mid seventies around here were used by adults sexually in one way or another. Both boys and girls. I came here much later but the damage was everywhere. The now boomer age adults choose to forget it or dismiss it. This sexual abuse was done by a small group of people but the kids were left barely supervised while the adults partied. The abusers seemed to have impunity as far as I could discern. I guess the live and let live culture applied to this activity too.

My straight frat brothers used to have tons of porn. I remember a funny Hustler cartoon with two indignant beavers in the woods who see a naked woman bent over near a campfire: "I think it's a cheap shot—we don't look ANYTHING like that!"

Back in those days it wasn’t seen as wrong for men to pursue underage girls add the extra predatoriness of being a flasher and that was hilarious to many men who were the target audience.

I saw these cartoons as a kid and thought it was just true. It was in the mag to signify its normalcy in hetero society..

My older brother had Hustler and Penthouse. Hustler was my favorite because I could beat off to the naked men. I have truly lived a full life.

TIL That "Chester the Molester" was a real comic strip.

I thought the references to it were a joke.

This is interesting in light of all the talk about “speaking your truth” these days. I think heterosexual men want to fuck very young girls, and always have, and that they’re learning never to speak that particular truth.

Which does nothing to make the urge go away, of course, but does allow them to keep their jobs and stay out of the scandal rags.
